ABOUT THE BOOK
The harms of quoting fabricated narrations are known to all. There would be no real alim who would intentionally quote a narration he knows to be fabricated.
The problem is that we have never learnt how to spot fabrications. So, when one comes across a nice juicy riwayah that seems perfect for spicing up a bayan, how does one tell if it is fine or not?
Mawlana Muhammad Abasoomar, may Allah Ta’ala reward him greatly, runs a Dar al-Hadith which answers hadith-related queries. One could search on his website hadithanswers.com or submit a query to them.
However, as the saying goes “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
The better option would thus be for one to learn to spot fabrications and not be dependent on others to find out when narrations are problematic.
This unique work, al-Manar al-Munif, is designed to create the ability in the reader to spot fabricated narrations.
It lists signs by which one could recognise fabrications together with giving multiples examples for them eg.
The author then mentions Usuls like
The author sometimes generalises too much, claiming that there isn’t a single sound narration on a certain topic, however this edition contains the beneficial footnotes of Shaykh Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah who then points out that there is really a hadith or even multiple ahadith that are proven on this issue.
These footnotes further add to the value and authority of this beneficial work
