ABOUT THE BOOK

Now in its revised third edition, this is the acclaimed Arabic text in the science of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) covering the topics of purification and worship (salah, sawm, zakah and hajj) in accordance with the Hanafi School of Islamic Law. Written in a simple, straightforward and easily categorised manner, this is the author’s first written work in Arabic that has been widely taught in centres of learning in the UK, Turkey, Pakistan and India for over three decades.

This Arabic text was written by the learned scholar, teacher and educationist, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, which he wrote for his students at the turn of the twenty-first century living in the Western world. The text needed to be in Arabic in a way that helped them enhance their language skills while at the same time simplifying and collating legal rulings from the complex canon of classic juristic literature. The text is contemporary in style yet uniquely traditional in structure, providing an accessible and uncomplicated rendering of the traditional works of Hanafi jurisprudence. It is based on the authentic and authoritative rulings from the canonical texts on matters relating to purification and everyday individual and collective forms of worship.
